Chasing 176, Sri Lanka were dealt an early blow as their captain, Chamari Athapaththu, was removed in the second over. Imesha Dulhani scored a confident 50, attacking early in the powerplay. Hasini Perera marked her first T20 international fifty with an elegant 65 off 42 balls. Their 79-run partnership brought back Sri Lanka into contention and even raised hopes of a thriller finish.

With 55 needed off the final four overs, India tightened the screws:
