Indian shuttlers produced a spectacular showing at the Asian Para-Badminton Championships in Thailand winning a total of 27 medals. This was their best performance in the tournament ever since its inception in 2012. Their previous highest tally was 13 medals in the 2016 edition.
The Asian Para-Badminton Championships is a tournament organized by the Para-Badminton World Federation (PBWF) which has now merged with the BWF. This tournament is hosted to crown the best para-badminton players in Asia.
In the 2025 edition of the tournament that ran from 17-22 June, Indian players won four gold medals, 10 silver medals and 13 bronze medals. They won medals across multiple classifications and in almost every category,
Leading the charge for India at Asian Para-Badminton Championships, Thailand was Nitesh Kumar, who emerged as the standout performer, clinching three gold medals in the men’s singles SL3 category, mixed double (SL3-SU5) alongside Thulasimathi Murugesan, and men’s doubles (SL3-SL4) with Sukant Kadam.
