Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greatest Indian batsmen holds the record for scoring the most runs in ODIs in a single year (calendar year). He scored 1,894 runs in 1998.
In a similar year, the highest number of runs in Test cricket in a single year has been scored by Pakistan’s Mohammad Yusuf (1,788).
There have been some Indian players in international cricket who have scored more than 1000 runs in both ODIs and Tests in a single year.

1 Sachin Tendulkar (1997)

Former great batsman Tendulkar scored 1,000+ runs in Tests and ODIs in 1997.
He scored 1,000 runs in 17 innings of 12 Tests that year at an average of 62.50, scoring 4 centuries and 3 half-centuries.
In the same year, Tendulkar scored 1,011 runs in 39 ODIs at an average of 30.63. He also scored 2 centuries and 5 half-centuries.
Along with Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya and Aravinda de Silva did this in 1997.
2 Sourav Ganguly (2007)

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly played 10 Tests in 2007, scoring 1,106 runs in 19 innings at an average of 61.44. He scored 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries.
In the same year, Ganguly scored 1,240 runs in 30 innings of 32 ODIs at an average of 44.28, which included 12 half-centuries.
Interestingly, Ganguly did not score any century in ODIs that year and his highest individual score was 98 runs.
3 Gautam Gambhir (2008)

Former Indian opener and current team coach Gautam Gambhir has also done this.
In 2008, he scored 1,134 runs in 16 innings of 8 Tests at an average of 70.87. During that time, he also scored 3 centuries and 6 half-centuries with a highest score of 206 runs.
In the same year, Gambhir played 27 ODIs, scoring 1,119 runs at an average of 46.62. He also scored 3 centuries.
4 Virat Kohli (2017 and 2018)

Virat Kohli is the only Indian player to do this feat twice.
In 2017, he scored 1,059 runs in 16 innings of 10 Tests at an average of 75.64. In the same year, he scored 1,460 runs in 26 ODIs at an average of 76.84.
The Indian legendary batsman scored 1,322 runs in 13 Tests at an average of 55.08 in 2018, while he scored 1,202 runs in 12 ODIs at an average of 133.55.
Other than the Indian batsmen the Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara has achieved it as well.
Sangakkara has done this feat 4 times
Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara holds the record of scoring more than 1,000 runs in both ODI and Test formats in a calendar year. He did this 4 times (2004, 2006, 2011 and 2014).
