Indian bowlers make magic come through as England bowled out for 120 in second innings at Lord’s

This is a very big moment in Indian cricket, as they defeated England at Lord’s and take a lead 1-0 in the five-match test series. It is the first for India at Lord’s against England after 2014. Even in the first Test match of this India tour of England, India was in a strong position to win the test needing 157 having wickets in hand on the final day at Nottingham. India tough has a comparatively good record at Nottingham when compared to other venues in England. But all the hopes and expectations go in vain as the rain completely washed out the day 5 of the test match.

The second test was being played at Lord’s England captain Joe Root won the crucial toss and was elected to bowl. The pitch and conditions were in favor of England. But the Indian openers showed strong resilience in the opening two sessions. They made sure they neutralized the advantage of the pitch to England bowlers. India had a very strong opening stand as the pair put together 126 runs for 1st wicket. It was Jimmy Anderson who took the first wicket for England by dismissing Rohit Sharma.

England bowlers struck back in the end restricting India to a total of 364 in the first innings. England still managed to pass the total of what India made in the first innings and took a crucial lead of 27 runs. It was due to a magnificent knock of 180 runs from Joe Root the captain of England.

The match was well poised in the second innings. Indian openers who played impressively in th first innings were dismissed cheaply in the second innings by Mark Wood. India was looking in a spot of bother when they lost the wicket of captain Kohli with 55 runs on board in the second innings. But the century partnership from senior and experienced players Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane put India in a much better situation.

Once both the set batsman was dismissed in consecutive sessions, England was back into the match. Ravindra Jadeja’s wicket before the end of day 4 gave a big boost to England bowlers. It was then followed by the wicket of Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma early on day 5. Just when England was looking to all-out India cheaply, there was a magical and record partnership for the 9th wicket from Jasprit and Mohammed Shami. The duo made 89 runs and the partnership is still unbroken.

It was then Indian bowlers who did wonders with the ball for India in the second innings at Lords in the second test. They dismissed the host for a score of 120 in the second innings and registered a historic win of over 151 runs over England. It was Jos Buttler who looked resilient among all the England batsman in the second innings was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj after facing 96 deliveries. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers who picked up four wickets in the second innings.
