Indian football team head coach Khalid Jamil, on Wednesday (November 5, 2025) announced 23 probables for the Blue Tigers squad for the upcoming FIFA International Match Window.
India are scheduled to play Bangladesh at the National Stadium in Dhaka, in their Senior Men’s AFC Asian Cup 2027 Final Round Qualifiers match on November 18. The team will set camp in Bengaluru from Thursday, November 6, and are set to travel to Dhaka on November 15.
Among the probables, Mohammed Sanan, who was called up to the U23 squad earlier this week, will join the senior team instead.
More players are expected to be added later. However, talismanic striker Sunil Chhetri’s name is conspicuously missing from the list. According to reports, Chhetri had requested Jamil to not include him in the squad.

“In all my time with football, I have never seen anyone so professional. And I have seen him since he was a teenager. I have told him I will welcome him should he change his mind,” the India head coach told a news daily on Wednesday after leaving out Chhetri from the squad of 23 for Asian Cup qualifier away to Bangladesh on November 18.
“My practice sessions are hard but not for once did Sunil want to opt out. A senior player like him is a great example so I wanted him to be part of the rebuilding. But he said it is best that we plan without him. It is his decision and I respect that,” said Jamil said.
India are already out of contention for a spot in the main tournament, scheduled for Saudi Arabia in 2027. This follows their 1-2 loss to Singapore in Margao last month, meaning they will be playing a dead-rubber match against Bangladesh, inconsequential for qualification purposes.
