Boxam Elite International 2026: Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain spearheaded India’s gold rush at the Boxam Elite International 2026 boxing tournament, which concluded on Sunday in La Nucia, Alicante, Spain.
The Indian contingent finished the tournament with an impressive haul of 19 medals, including nine golds and three silvers secured on the final day. Earlier, Indian boxers had claimed seven bronze medals, making India the most successful nation at the event.
A standout performance came from India’s women boxers, who reached seven finals, including an all-Indian clash in the 54kg category, with all seven bouts resulting in gold medals.
Lovlina displayed her trademark composure and control in the 75kg final, defeating England’s Mary-Kate Smith 4-1. Manju Rani (48kg) and Nitu Ghanghas (51kg) set the tone with emphatic unanimous decision victories over Spain’s Marta Lopez and Noelia Gutierrez, respectively. Poonam (54kg) then narrowly defeated compatriot Preeti Pawar in a hard-fought all-Indian final.
Priya (60kg) and former youth world champion Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) followed with commanding 5-0 wins against Ukrainian opponents, while Naina (80kg) rounded off the women’s gold sweep with a composed victory over Ukraine’s Raisa Piskun.
In the men’s finals, Sachin Siwach (60kg) produced one of the day’s most gripping bouts, edging Canada’s Keoma-Ali Al Ahmadieh 3-2. Akash (75kg) added another gold with a tight 3-2 win over Kazakhstan’s Aman Konsbekov. Deepak (70kg) and Ankush (80kg) claimed silver medals after falling to opponents from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, respectively.
The Boxam Elite International 2026 took place place from February 2 – February 8, 2026 in Spain. It was the 39th edition of the event and serves as a major season opener for elite men and women pugilists as they prepare for the 2026 Commonwealth and Asian Games.
The competition will be held at Camilo Cano Pavilion in La Nucía, Alicante, Spain which saw participation from over 200 boxers representing 20 countries.
