The 2023 season of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship is set to reach its thrilling conclusion at the renowned Madras International Circuit this weekend (October 20-22). This fifth and final round promises to identify a fresh crop of champions across various categories in the championship, but not without them overcoming formidable challenges.
A total of 16 exhilarating races are scheduled for this three-day event, with the two Pro-Stock Open categories, 301-400cc and 165cc, taking center stage. The event also features competitions in the Novice (Stock 165cc) and Girls (Stock 165cc) categories. Additionally, there will be a support race in the 301-400cc Novice class.
Ajit Thomas, MMSC President, expressed, “It has been a long season with its shares of highs and lows. This weekend will see the conclusion of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2023. There are still a few titles up for grabs, ensuring that the intense competition that has been a hallmark throughout the season continues. The introduction of electric motorcycles by TVS has been a highlight, possibly a glimpse into the future. The MMSC is grateful for the support extended to the championship by title sponsors MRF Tyres, competitors, and the media.”
The Petronas TVS One-Make Championship will feature races in three classes: 301-400cc Open (RR 310), Girls (RTR 200), and Media (RTR 200). Two rounds of ‘Time Attack’ for TVS electric motorcycles will add to the excitement. The Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup will showcase races in the NSF 250R category, highlighting the young and talented riders.
While the champions have been almost decided in three of the four National championship categories, the Pro-Stock 165cc Open class remains wide open, with several riders competing for the title. Kavin Quintal from Chennai needs just a few points to clinch the crown in the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup (NSF 250R). He leads Rakshith Dave from Chennai by 45 points going into the final round.
In contrast, Bengaluru’s Chiranth Vishwanath and Alwin Sundar from Chennai hold the top two positions in the Petronas TVS Open category, separated by just seven points. Nithila Das from Bengaluru is well on her way to securing the Girls (RTR 200) category title with a 33-point advantage and a maximum of 25 points available.
