Indonesia Masters 2021: Kento Momota advances into the Quarter-finals with a comfortable victory against Lakshya Sen

At the ongoing Indonesia Masters 2021, in Men’s Singles 2nd Round – Kento Momota defeated Lakshya Sen in two straight games 21-13, 21-19, advances into the quarter-finals.

The 2nd round Indonesia Masters 2021 has started where one of the Men’s Singles encounters was played between Japan’s Kento Momota and India’s Lakshya Sen on Thursday, 18th November 2021.

The ongoing Indonesia Masters is a Super 750 Level Tournament held at the Bali International Convention Centre located at Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia from 16th to 21st November.

Meanwhile, the tournament got upgraded from a Super 500 into a Super 750 this year.

Indonesia Masters 2021 Second Round: Kento Momota is into the Quarter-finals

This Men’s Singles 2nd Round match was played at Court 3. Japan’s Kento Momota is World No. 1 whereas his opponent India’s Lakshya Sen is Ranked 19th in the world.

At the 2021 Indonesia Masters, Momota is the No. 1 seed while Sen is unseeded. In the Second Round encounter, the 27-year-old Japanese won the 1st Game by 21-13. At the start, Lakshya Sen had a 1-4 lead but Kento Momota earned some points and was leading by 6-5. The top-seeded shuttler then kept the momentum, as he was 11-6 at the mid-game interval. From there onwards, Momota dominated & won the game.

Meanwhile in the 2nd Game, again the 20-year-old Lakshya Sen was ahead at the start and had a 3 point lead but lost crucial points as Kento Momota levelled 6-6. During the mid-game interval, Sen was leading by just 1 point. In the latter half, it was a close contest & looked like it may go into the decider as Lakshya Sen was leading by 3 points; 14-17. But the Japanese won five consecutive points & got a 19-17 lead. Kento Momota won the 2nd game by 21-19.

As a result, Kento Momota won the match against Lakshya Sen in two straight games 21-13, 21-19 in about forty-six minutes. Momota has advanced into the next round – the Quarter-finals, where he will face Rasmus Gemke from Denmark.
