The second round of the Indonesia Masters 2021 has started, one of the Women’s Singles encounters was played between India’s PV Sindhu and Spain’s Clara Azurmendi on Thursday, 18th November 2021.

The ongoing Indonesia Masters is a Super 750 Level Tournament held at the Bali International Convention Centre located at Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia from 16th to 21st November.

Meanwhile, the tournament got upgraded from a Super 500 into a Super 750 this year.

Indonesia Masters 2021 Second Round: PV Sindhu advances into the next round – QF

This Women’s Singles 2nd Round match was played at Court 3. India’s PV Sindhu is World No. 7 whereas her opponent Spain’s Clara Azurmendi is Ranked 47th in the world. This was their first time playing each other.

At the 2021 Indonesia Masters, Sindhu was seeded third while Azurmendi is unseeded. In the Second Round encounter, the Spaniard won the 1st Game by 21-17. PV Sindhu was leading by a few points at the start until Clara Azurmendi levelled 9-9. Sindhu managed to lead the mid-game interval by one point. Then 23-year-old Azurmendi changed gears in the latter half, and for the first time, she was leading 14-13. Azurmendi then took the opportunity & won the 1st game.

Meanwhile, in the 2nd Game, clear dominance was shown by 26-year-old Sindhu. The Indian star player was leading 11-3 during the mid-game interval and then went on to win 2nd Game by 21-7 & took the match into the decider

The 3rd Game showcased the experience of the Indian shuttler, as she was comfortable leading 11-5 and won the decider by 21-12 clinching the match.

As a result, PV Sindhu won the match against Clara Azurmendi by 17-21, 21-7, 21-12 in about forty-seven minutes. Sindhu has advanced into the next round – Quarter-finals, where she will face Neslihan Yiğit from Turkey.
