At the Indonesia Masters 2021 QF, one of the Men’s Singles encounters was an all-Indian clash between Srikanth Kidambi and Prannoy H. S. on Friday, 19th November 2021.
The ongoing Indonesia Masters is a Super 750 Level Tournament held at the Bali International Convention Centre located at Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia from 16th to 21st November.
Meanwhile, the tournament got upgraded from a Super 500 into a Super 750 this year.
Indonesia Masters 2021 QF: Srikanth Kidambi won against compatriot Prannoy H. S., advances into the semis
This Men’s Singles Quarter-finals match was played at Court 2. Srikanth Kidambi is World No. 15 whereas his opponent Prannoy H. S. is Ranked 32 in the world.
In the Head-to-Head Record, it’s 4-2 in the favour of Srikanth Kidambi. They last met in the 2019 Japan Open, where Kidambi emerged as the winner.
At the 2021 Indonesia Masters, both Srikanth & Prannoy are unseeded. In this Quarter-finals encounter, the 28-year-old Srikanth Kidambi won the 1st Game by 21-7. After a close start, Kidambi managed to lead by 6-4. By the mid-game interval, he was leading by 11-5. In the latter half, Kidambi was dominating as he had a 10 point lead of 17-7. And won the game in 13 minutes.
Meanwhile, in the 2nd Game, Prannoy H. S. was comfortably leading by 2-7. However, Srikanth Kidambi fought back, from 7-10 and earned 4 straight points to lead by 11-10. In the latter half, it was a close contest. But Kidambi maintained his cool, as in the end, he won the game by 21-18 & clinched the match.
As a result, Srikanth Kidambi won the match against Prannoy H. S. in two straight games 21-7, 21-18 in about thirty-nine minutes. Kidambi has advanced into the next round – the Semi-finals, where he will either face Kunlavut Vitidsarn or Anders Antonsen.
