In what looked like a definite victory for the Hyderabad side up until the 16th over, another blunder just made its way in. SRH lost the plot against RCB in the 17th overs bowled by Shahbaz Ahmed, which surprisingly churned 3 wickets and a single run. There was a lot of reason why SRH, for the second consecutive game in this season of VIVO IPL, lost despite a good show overall.
Here are the 3 reasons why SUNRISERS HYDERABAD choked against ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE:
1. Over reliability on Warner
The good news for the Hyderabad side is that their ever-dependable skipper’s back in business as he smashed 54 off 37 balls. He although, wasn’t able to put over his side to victory, but as always Warner scoring runs for SRH is their main advantage.
But this is a disadvantage as well, as the team heavily relies on Warner, alone although this season, Pandey and Bairstow have shown some credibility, apart from these 3, nobody else in the batting department has jumped the ship. This reliance on Warner weakens the batting predicament of the team and SRH needs to sort this out.
2. Irresponsible Batting performance
To be very honest, SRH batsmen were downright disappointing. They lost 7 wickets in the last 4 overs and made the night miserable for them. After a pretty strong 1st wicket stance between Warner and Pandey, no other batsman showed the grits and gut or acumen to stand up against RCB.
SRH must work on their batting order intensely before the next match, so they don’t repeat performance of these low standards, a regular practice.
3. KANE WILLIAMSON to the rescue!!
SRH needs Williamson now, more than anything. They need a person on whom they could rely upon alongside Warner. Williamson is the need of the hour and there’s no way, they could end up dropping him again in the next match after another frisk batting performance.
Now the question is, who will be replaced, keeping in mind that only 4 foreign nationals could start in aside. They would have to take a strong decision if compared to the 2nd match line-up as all 4 of their picks in this match performed very well (apart from Bairstow, but he performed really well in the first match). There’s no way Rashid or Warner could be dropped. Holder had an impressive outing with the ball, Bairstow showed that he’s in good touch. It’s indeed going to be a tough decision for the SRH team management.
