On the doubleheader Wednesday match against Chennai Super Kings, the Kolkata Knight Riders are chasing a humongous total of 221 runs, while they have lost their opening batting order and almost their mid-order, Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik’s partnership are looking to be a potential comeback for Kolkata in the match after a sloppy batting performance.
Kolkata Knight Riders bowling didn’t go well as Chennai trashed Kolkata for a massive 220 runs in 20 overs with Faf Du Plessis just 5 runs away from a century, on the other hand, Kolkata’s opening batsmen failed to deliver for the team as they were dismissed like skittles by Deepak Chahar’s stellar bowling performance, Shubham Gill, Eoin Morgan, Rana, and Tripathi failed to deliver for the team, mid-order batsmen Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell took up to the occasion as the duo scored a partnership of 78 runs to make a dramatic comeback into the match, Russel went big for KKR with his massive sixers and boundaries with a strike rate of 245.45 and Dinesh Karthik batting at a strike rate of 160, the duo smashed CSK mercilessly as Deepak Chahar conceded 24 runs in a single over.
Russel and Karthik did shock M S Dhoni for a moment as the duo seemed to have found solid ground, but Sam Curran spoiled the dreams as he dismissed Andre Russell with a good length ball straight to the pads.
Although Russel is gone, Dinesh Karthik is still playing at the crease hoping for a comeback in the match.
