Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has suffered another major setback. Daniel Sams has been found positive in the Corona test today. Earlier, RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal has also been found to be COVID-19 positive. Sams currently has no symptoms of COVID-19 and has been sent into isolation.

The 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is to begin on 9 April and the first match is to be played between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and RCB.
RCB informed via Twitter that when Daniel Sams arrived at the team hotel in Chennai on April 3, his corona test was negative. His second test report came on 7 April, in which he has been found to be COVID-19 positive.
RCB statement on Daniel Sams:
“Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3rd, with a negative COVID report on arrival. His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility.”

This is a big setback for RCB as the Sams will no longer be able to play in the opening matches. Daniel Sams has played four T20 Internationals for Australia, while earlier he has played three IPL matches for Delhi Capitals. This year he was released by Delhi Capitals, after which RCB bought him in the auction.
Meanwhile, the Virat Kohli-led side is ready to play their first match against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on April 9th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
