Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has once again questioned Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy. For the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, Gambhir said that you cannot lead the team while batting at No. 7. Gambhir said that the captain should lead from the front and for this Dhoni should come a bit higher in the batting order. CSK could not reach the playoffs last season, while the team suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals in the first match of this season. CSK is scheduled to play their second match against Punjab Kings today.

On Star Sports ‘cricket live show, Gambhir said,’ Mahendra Singh Dhoni should come up in the batting order, it makes a difference because the captain should lead from the front. We have always been saying that the leader should lead from the front. When you came to bat at number seven, you could not captain.

He said, ‘Yes, there is a problem with his bowling line-up and now he is no longer Dhoni, whom we used to see four or five years ago. When he came to the crease and started bowling the bowlers. I think they should bat at number four or five. Not a little lower than that. ‘ It is very important for CSK to register a win in this match, as the team’s net run rate has also deteriorated after a seven-wicket loss in the first match.

Chennai Super Kings were unable to defend their 189-run target against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. Suresh Raina made a half-century on his return to the IPL but Delhi openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan made a mockery of the target and won the match with 7 wickets and 8 balls remaining.
