Before the start of the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by David Warner, has suffered a major setback as Australia’s all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has departed from IPL 2021. He has expressed his inability to stay in the Covid-19 Protocols for a long time. This is not the first time that Marsh has opted out of the IPL for some reason. Marsh suffered an ankle injury during the opening match of the Indian Premier League 2020 in September last year and was then ruled out of the entire league due to injury.
According to ‘Cricbuzz’, he has informed his decision to BCCI and IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. Marsh had come on 21 September to throw the fifth over of RCB’s innings in the first match of the Sunrisers. The 29-year-old bowler, however, was able to throw only four balls as his right ankle twisted while stopping Aaron Finch’s drive on his second ball. He could then throw only two more balls and stumbled out of the ground. Jason Holder of the West Indies was chosen as an alternative to Marsh.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their first match on 11 April this year. Shah Rukh Khan’s team, Kolkata Knight Riders will front Sunrisers. The match between the two teams will be played in Chennai at 7:30 pm. The last match of Hyderabad Sunrisers will also be against Kolkata Knight Riders. It will start in Bengaluru on May 21 at 3:30 pm.
