Rajasthan Royals experienced their worst-ever IPL journey last year in United Arab Emirates (UAE) . The Royals ended up at the bottom of the standing after managing only six wins from 14 matches.
Rajasthan Royals, ahead of the Indian Premier League 2021, made a few changes to their squad, including Smith’s release from the team. For the fourteenth edition of the league, RR decided to hand over the captaincy to Sanju Samson. Talking about the addition to their team, the Jaipur based franchise roped Chris Morris for a whopping INR 16.25 Crore. To make their squad a strong domestic core, RR bought the likes of Shivam Dube as well.
As the upcoming season of IPL 2021 is just a few days away, let’s take a look at he ideal playing XI for Rajasthan Royals:
Openers: The Royals could make their opening innings powerful by picking up Jos Buttler and the skipper Sanju Samson as their openers. Both the players are very well known for their game changer from the word go and can be very phenomenal if given a chance. Last year, Samson scored 375 runs from 14 matches including three half centuries whereas Buttler struck 328 runs from 13 games with two fifties under his belt.
Middle order: Last year during the Indian Premier League, Ben Stokes was asked to open the innings, but the strategy failed quite badly. However, for the upcoming season, Rajasthan Royals has selected quite a few talented all-rounders who can do the job. The last mistake may teach the RR that Ben Stokes could be filled in for a middle-order as he is very good at rotating the strikes. Apart from Stokes, Riyan Parag seems like the best option for the job.
All-rounders: For the all-rounders, as it is noted, Rajasthan Royals have a great combination with Chris Morris and Dube with Rahul Tewatia already in line-up. Tewatia was a great plus point for the RR in IPL 2020. He scored 255 runs in 14 matches and picked 10 wickets as well.
Bowlers: The natural first choice for Royals was Jofra Archer, who unfortunately injured his shoulder and wouldn’t be able to be a part of the matches.
In his absence, Andrew Tye will lead the bowling attack for RR. Apart from Tye, senior India speedester Jaydev Unadkat and young Kartik Tyagi could handle the pace department. In the last season, Unadkat picked up four wickets while Tyagi earned nine scalps.
Rajasthan Royals’ best playing XI: Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Ben Stoke, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Shivam Dube, Chriss Morris, Andrew Tye, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat and Kartik Tyagi.
