After losing three matches consecutively, Punjab Kings has finally registered a win against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing tournament of IPL 2021. PBKS scripted a stunning victory in a low scoring encounter by nine wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both the captains, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma led the front.
The match started with KL Rahul winning the toss and inviting Mumbai Indians to bat first. The defending champions got off to a torrid start, and wicketkeeper- batsman Quinton de Kock lost his wicket in just the second over to Deepak Hooda.
They set a chase of 131 for the PBKS players, and it was too low of a target for Mumbai Indians bowlers to defend but with their efforts, they led their team to cross the line. Both the openers of PBKS, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal looked at the top of their games as they stitched a partnership of 53 runs.
Rahul played a captain’s knock and scored 60 off 52. Gayle was another advantage for them as he added 43 runs in 35 balls.
