On Saturday’s match the IPL 2021 seasons most awaited rivalry between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and the season table topper Chennai Super Kings took place here at Feroz Shah Kotla.

The Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first, Chennai Super Kings lost their opener Rituraj Gaikwad early in the match but the team was bought back on the track by Faf Du Plessis and Moeen Ali as the duo played an amazing innings where the completed a 100 runs partnership and posted a solid powerplay score, the momentum was then picked up by other batsmen but most specifically Ambati Rayudu who smashed 72 runs in 27 balls with a stike rate of 266.67 combined with 4 boundaries and 7 massive sixers to take CSK total score to 218, the most against Mumbai Indians.

Chasing a total of 219, Mumbai Indians had a pretty start as Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock played an amazing partnership in the powerplay, but after thier dismissal the team struggled to find hard ground for a while as Surya Kumar Yadav was dismissed for just 3 runs, the later partnership between Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya worked well for the team as the duo punished CSK mercilessly, it was then followed by Hardik Pandya who was quick and explosive, but Kieron Pollard stuck till the end for Mumbai with his amazing batting performance and bought the win for Mumbai Indians in the last ball.
