On the fifteenth match of the IPL 2021 doubleheader Wednesday, Captian cool, MS Dhoni’s Chennai squad will face off against Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata knight riders at Wankhede stadium.
Chennai and Kolkata have had a steady start to the season, but Chennai is currently on the top half of the points table as Kolkata rests at the bottom half.
After losing their first game the Chennai Super Kings made a stellar comeback and won the next two of their games to confirm a spot in the top tier of the points table. Chennai won both games with ease as their strategy seemed to work for them against Punjab and Rajasthan.
Chennai’s batsmen look to have found their stomping ground as Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali look to be in great form and Ambati Rayudu played very well against Rajasthan Royals, captain Dhoni hasn’t made any big contribution to the team’s score but has been mildly effective with his bat. Chennai has ruled the bowling end, as their bowlers have been on their top form since the beginning, English bowler Sam Curran was phenomenal against Rajasthan in the powerplay, while Deepak Chahar has been amazing with his wicket hauls since the first match, Jadeja has also been effective with his bowling while Moeen Ali shocked Rajasthan with his three-wicket haul, overall Chennai seems to be in good form on both sides of the game.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders won their first match but failed to make it count in the second and third games, Kolkata’s batting order collapsed against Mumbai handing the Mumbai squad an easy win in the match Kolkata had won in the beginning, on the other hand, their bowlers were thrashed by Maxwell and de Villiers in their match against RCB, Kolkata’s openers have struggled so far in the season and look to find an opening to play well for the team, also Kolkata’s bowling attack needs to be refined as they have been struggling against batsmen during the season.
Chennai and Kolkata look to bring the best of their talent to the crease today, only time will tell who will emerge as the winner of the match for a chance to move up the ladder on the points table.
