Australian speedster Jason Behrendorff has left for India to participate in IPL 2021, which started on the 9th of April. Jason Behrendorff will come in as a replacement for his fellow countryman Josh Hazlewood, who pulled out of IPL 2021 due to bio-bubble fatigue. Hazlewood opted out of the eight-team T20 tournament to rest after a grueling summer and to stay fresh for a crowded schedule of international cricket culminating with the Ashes at the end of the year. He will be playing for Chennai Super Kings this season.

Hazlewood was the third Australian to pull out of IPL 2021 after Josh Phillipe and Mitchell Marsh, and revealed he wanted to give himself “the best chance to be mentally and physically ready” for the busy international season ahead.
Behrendorff was part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019. He also played five fixtures for the franchise before leaving the tournament for the 2019 World Cup. He is rated highly in Australia and was fast-tracked into the World Cup squad. Behrendorff had made his ODI debut in January that year.
The lanky left-arm pacer will remain in quarantine for seven days before joining the CSK squad.
