On Sunday’s most awaited Southern rivalry between Chennai and Bengaluru, the veteran Chennai Super Kings have emerged as the victors to hand RCB their first loss of the season with a top spot on the points table of the season.

Wankhede stadium is known for being a scoring ground for aggressive batsmen, CSK proved it once again as they mercilessly thrashed RCB bowlers for a massive 191 runs in 20 overs.

Faf Du Plessis stepped up to the occasion just like the last match with a half-century to set up the momentum for the team, opener Rituraj Gaikwad scored 33 runs to give a perfect start to the team’s batting innings in the powerplay, the momentum then carried out for the whole match with Suresh Raina’s quick 24 where he completed his 200 sixes in IPL.

The breakthrough performance from Jadeja was the icing on the cake as he scored 62 runs off of just 28 balls with 36 runs in the last over for Harshal Patel, Jadeja’s lighting fast batting gave CSK a total of 191 runs on the scorecard.

Chasing a total of 192 runs, RCB gained momentum in the first two overs with Padikkal picking up the aggressive role for the team early on, but Virat Kohli failed to deliver for the team as he was dismissed for just 8 runs from there on RCB was headed for downfall as Bengaluru batsmen couldn’t stick to the ground and tumbled down like skittles against Chennai’s coordinated bowling attack.

Ravindra Jadeja played a stellar inning on both sides of the field, taking 3 crucial wickets for the team, Ab de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, and Washington Sundar were all dismissed by Jadeja quickly for just 13 runs. Causing a complete demolition of RCB’s hope for making a comeback into the match,  Imran Tahir’s first match in the season also went great for him as he bagged 2 crucial wickets to further damage RCB’s batting order.

RCB’s batting order was completely sent to the pavilion at 103 runs, as CSK won the match by 69 runs.
