IPL 2021: Despite getting a good start, Rajasthan failed to put a big total in front of Mumbai

Rajasthan Royals batsmen were looking good in the first 10 overs and a milestone of 200 runs was looking easy

Rajasthan Royals scored a total of 171 runs in 20 overs against the current Champions Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley, Delhi Stadium. They lost only four wickets and failed to put a huge total as Mumbai’s death over bowling was exceptional. Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah only conceded 15 runs from his 4 overs and got a wicket of Shivam Dube to restrict RR on a decent total at this pitch.

171 runs is not a bad total to defend, especially when this IPL has seen some low-scoring games. But the pitch is made for the batsmen as the bowl was coming very smoothly on the bat. Buttler and Jaiswal gave a dream start to Rajasthan Royals and scored 66 runs in 7 overs. After getting Buttler out, Samson joined the part and there were non-stop boundaries till the 10th over when Jaiswal got out.

Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson build a partnership so that the upcoming batsmen can score quick runs, which led the inning a little slower. Samson tried to change the gears and scored 14 off Trent Boult. Dube was still struggling against Bumrah and now the pressure was on these two Rajasthan Royals batsmen. Boult bowled out Samson in the 18th over and gave the blow Mumbai needed. New batsmen failed to score runs as it looked difficult to hit big ones without settling down.

In the end overs, Mumbai bowlers bowled well and restricted Rajasthan Royals to a decent total of 171. Now Mumbai Indians will look to win this game as they have lost two consecutive matches. Mumbai’s batting order has changed today as the youngster Ishan Kishan is left out and Nathan Coulter-Nile came in.
