In an uncertain of the start to the Match No. 22 of VIVO IPL 2021 between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, once in a blue moon stuff happened when Dhoni dropped a sitter.

It was the 2nd ball of the 1st over of the SRH innings. Deepak Chahar bowled a bowl, going towards the leg side anf Bairstow tried to nudge it off towards the fine leg, when the ball kissed off bat and went straight towards the wicketkeeper Dhoni. In normal circumstances, he would’ve caught it, but in all brazenly manner, he dropped a sitter.

Commentators were thunderstruck as you don’t expect a legendary wicketkeeper captain, drop certain sitters and it is indeed millennial in its timing.

It won’t hurt Chennai the most as by the time of writing this, Bairstow got dismissed by San Curran in the 3rd over. But indeed an interesting take considering Dhoni’s legendary stature.
