In a crucial match against Chennai Super Kings while chasing a target of 221 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan failed to deliver for his team once again.

After having problems in restricting CSK from scoring big on the bowling end, KKR had no chance but start chasing the score from the beginning of their batting innings, but things didn’t go well for KKR as openers failed to stand still and score big for the team, CSK’s bowler Deepak Chahar was on top of his class today, as he took the first wicket for Chennai when he dismissed Shubham Gill for just 1 run in his first over. Chahar also dismissed Nitish Rana for 9 runs, Sunil Naraine for 4 runs, and captain Eoin Morgan for just 7 runs.

Since the beginning of the season, Kolkata captain Eoin Morgan has been struggling to find himself solid ground in batting, the team excepts much more from him in terms of batting as they need their middle order to come alive.

Morgan has been in a batting slump since the first match, he has scored below ten runs in all matches except for one where he scored 28 runs, his inconsistent performance is alarming as KKR struggle to register themselves as a win and move up in the points table.

With other teams gearing up for the occasion and gathering points, KKR should make necessary changes to win a few matches and get themselves moving up with other teams. Morgan also needs to find his flair in batting soon as the team expects him to deliver.

Morgan has been amazing with his captaincy as he led his team to the world cup victory in the last tournament. It is no doubt that Morgan is an extremely talented batsman and captain, but he needs to step up to the role soon as Kolkata struggles to keep itself from losing any more matches to make it to the playoffs.
