Chris Lynn and Dawid Malan, both the players of their respective teams, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, have been warming benches since the Indian Premier League 2021 has started. After an embarrassing nine-run defeat against Sun riders Hyderabad, PBKS should probably have reassessed their strategies but failed to do that. The Punjab Kings has now locked horns with the defending champions Mumbai Indians, and have not made any changes in their playing XI, which means no Dawid Malan on the field.

When asked about the possible change in the team and brining Malan into the Playing XI, their assistant coach Andy Flower said that it is unlikely the world No.1 T20 batsman will play in Chennai.

“We know Dawid Malan is a real class player. He is got a lot of success in all formats including T20. He knows how to play game. It’s great to have him in our squad and available as an option. I think the timing of selection changes is very important. With a day in between these two games, I don’t think he would be in,” Flower said. Although, if he ever enters the field, it is most likely that he will replace Chris Gayle.

As far as we talk about Mumbai Indians’ Chris Lynn, he had been picked by MI ahead of IPL 2020, but warmed the benches throughout the season due to De Kock’s stellar performance. Chris Lynn finally got a chance in IPL 2021 opening match against RCB and he played a good knock of 49 off 35. However, after that, Quinton De Kock has been back in the field.

During the ongoing encounter of Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians, MI has left Lynn to warm the bench again and fans couldn’t keep calm. Fans on Twitter have been questioning about Dawid Malan and Chris Lynn’s absence from their respective franchises for the PBKS vs MI encounter.
