IPL 2021: Feels like yesterday, said Jasprit after 8 years in IPL

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is ready to return once again after marriage. The opening match of the IPL 2021 will be played on April 9 between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Bumrah made his IPL debut on 4 April 2013, 8 years ago. In the very first match, he took three wickets including the wicket of Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

On completion of 8 years, Jasprit Bumrah wrote on social media, “8 years ago feels like just yesterday. Cannot wait to get out there again!” In the first season, Bumrah only got a chance to play two matches. He took three wickets in two matches. In the first match, Bumrah took three wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It included the wickets of Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair. Although the team lost this match by 2 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah has won five titles for Mumbai Indians. Talking about the highest wickets in a season, in the tournament played in the UAE, Bumrah took 27 wickets in 15 matches. Apart from this, he took 20 wickets in 2017, 19 in 2019, 17 in 2018 and 15 wickets in 2016. Talking about his overall IPL career, he has taken 109 wickets in 92 matches at an average of 24. He has taken four wickets twice, 4 wickets for 14 runs is his best performance.

Former India team coach John Wright played an important role in joining Jasprit Bumrah with Mumbai Indians. In the Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, New Zealand’s John Wright saw Bumrah bowling. At that time Wright was associated with Mumbai Indians. Bumrah has said in the conversation that he could join Mumbai Indians only because of Wright. Bumrah was only 19 years old when he was associated with Mumbai Indians.
