The fourteenth season of the much-awaited Indian Premier League is set to start from 9th April this year. The cash-rich league will be played for around 2 months with the Final being on 30th May. This league has established itself to be one of the most popular tournaments in World cricket. In the IPL history so far, some batsmen have proved that they are cut above the rest by consistent performance over the years. So let’s have a look at the top three run-getters in the history of IPL.

1. Virat Kohli:

Indian skipper Virat Kohli who has been leading the Bangalore franchise since 2013 is ruling the charts among the highest run-getters of the league. Virat has accumulated 5878 runs in 184 innings with an average of 38.16 and strike rate being 130.73. He has struck 5 hundred and 39 centuries in the league so far. Among these, 4 tons came in the 2016 season where he slammed record 973 runs.

2. Suresh Raina:

A key catalyst of the success of Chennai Super Kings has been Suresh Raina, who is second on the all-time highest-runs scorers’ list. In 193 games, he has scored 5368 runs with an average of 33.34 and a strike rate of 137.14. His best knock came in 2010 final where he scored a half-century in the final against Mumbai Indians to seal CSK’s first-ever title win. In 2016 and 2017 when the Super Kings were suspended, Raina captained the Gujarat Lions.

3. David Warner:

This Australian power-hitter has scored 5,254 runs in 142 matches.
One of the most destructive openers in the modern game, Warner captained his team Sunrisers Hyderabad to its maiden IPL title in 2016. He relished a blistering campaign that season having racked up 848 runs in 17 matches. He holds the record of winning the Orange Cup the most number of times – thrice.
