After a disappointing outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) brought in some new names to strengthen the team as they look to bounce back in style in the upcoming season of the marquee tournament. CSK made seven new additions to their team since the last season. While they signed Robin Uthappa from Rajasthan Royals, they bought Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, Cheteshwar Pujara, C Hari Nishanth, Harishankar Reddy, and K Bhagath Varma at the mini-auction ahead of IPL 2021.
On Wednesday, CSK shared pictures of captain MS Dhoni welcoming their new signings as he handed them their jerseys.

Gowtham, who became the most expensive uncapped Indian in the history of the IPL when CSK bought him for a whopping Rs 9.25 crore, got jersey no. 79. Gowtham said he was ‘honored’ and added that he is looking forward to playing for the ‘pride’ of CSK in the Indian Premier League.

Previously the Karnataka cricketer said it was a dream come true for him to be playing under Dhoni. “I don’t feel any pressure of expectations playing for a champion side like CSK,” Gowtham, who previously played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), said.
Bowlers love playing under Mahi Bhai because he understands a bowler’s strengths and knows how to get the best out of him,” Gowtham was quoted as saying by the CSK website.
The CSK management understands cricket owing to its long association with the game which again reflects in its approach to players — the comforting words and confidence gave when things aren’t going right,” he added.

“It makes a big difference as it helps a player to express himself. They talk to the player if anything specific is needed or if he’s working on something. When these things are taken care of, it’s much easier for a player to go out and give his best,” the new CSK recruit said.
