England batsman Jason Roy arrived in Chennai on Saturday to join the ongoing tournament of IPL 2021. Roy has been part of the white ball tour recently with his England team and has now been signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad after the Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh opted out of the IPL 2021 at the last moment citing some personal reasons.

Roy had a base price of INR 2 Crore, and the Hyderabad franchise picked him up at the same price. He is supposed to be the backup opener for David Warner, who is suffering a few injuries recently. During the India’s tour of Australia last year, Warner had to miss out the initial tour due to his groin injury before he joined the team.

If any similar case appears now, Jason Roy would be of help to the SRH squad, who might get a chance to feature with his regular opening partner Jonny Bairstow. As for now, with the arrival of Jason, his entire squad is ready and meanwhile Roy has to be quarantined for a week as per the BCCI’s SOP before joining the squad. SRH announced his arrival through their official Twitter handle and posted, “@JasonRoy20 has arrived. Squad complete for #IPL2021.”

SRH, one of the most consistent performers in the league, has qualified into IPL playoffs for the last five years consecutively. With some new additions, SRH would want to play their best as to win the title for the second time after winning it for once in 2016.
