IPL 2021: KKR’s batsman Nitish Rana tests positive for COVID-19; Threat looms on the Tournament

The threat of the COVID-19 virus has started looming on the IPL. Even before IPL 2021 has not started,  KKR player Nitish Rana is reported to be COVID-19 positive. According to sources , the middle order batsman of KKR was associated with the team after a holiday in Goa. His report came positive two days ago, but no official confirmation has been made by the BCCI and KKR so far.

According to sources left-handed KKR batsman is currently quarantined at the team hotel in Mumbai and he is under the supervision of doctors. The 14th season of the IPL begins on April 9, with Kolkata Knight Riders to play their first match on March 11 with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The previous season of IPL did not go well for Nitish Rana. At that time, he had scored only 254 runs in 14 matches at a modest average of 25.14. Rana has played 60 matches in his entire IPL career, in which he has scored 1437 runs at an average of 28.17 and a strike rate of 135.56. However, the current form of Nitish Rana is excellent. He was one of the top 5 runners of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. While playing for Delhi, Nitish Rana scored 398 runs in 7 matches at an average of 66.33. During this time, his batting strike rate was 97.98 and he scored 1 century and 2 half-centuries.
