The spectacle of IPL 2021, takes place side-by-side the horrendous, nationwide surge of COVID-19 in India and there’s a buzz amongst people whether the spectacle of Franchise cricket must continue or not. There are arguments in favour and against this as a lot of foreign nationals have made their exodus out of the tournament, both before the start and now in midways as well.
But according to former England captain, Michael Vaughan, IPL must not stop and continue as he thinks that at devastating times like this, IPL could bring up smiles in the faces of an already battling nation of India.
Michael Vaughan took Twitter to tweet about his thought process regarding the continuation of IPL 2021 at these devastating times.
I think the IPL should carry on .. The joy it will be bringing billions in these awful times every evening is important .. but I do find it tough to think back how England & Aussie pulled out of games in SA,yet both countries players are allowed to play in India !!! #IPL2021

There have been talks, obviously, not official ones, but just the social chitter-chatter that IPL should be cancelled midways as a nation, on one hand, suffers an innumerable loss of many lives and on the other hand, an outpouring Franchise cricket league continues in different parts of the nation. There has been a counterargument to this which adheres to the fact that people of the country are mentally at their worst and what’s wrong if IPL brings joys to their life. He even alleged about the Mindset of Australian and English players that they continue to play here but opted out when it was South Africa.
Many foreign nationals have decided to make their way back. On Monday, Indian Ace-spinner and Delhi Capitals’ star player, Ravichandran Ashwin decided to opt out of the IPL o that he could go on and continue the fight against COVID that his family and extended ones are fighting.
I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals 🙏🙏

All said and done, let’s see what happens to IPL 2021, as this season has now moved to 2 news cities after Mumbai and Chennai, i.e. Ahmedabad and Delhi and we’re almost midways into IPL 14.
