Just minutes before faceoff on the crease today, everyone here at Wankhede stadium and across the TV screen witnessed a special moment between former CSK bowler Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir. The old buddies met and hugged it out to show the bond these two grown men have developed over the time when they played together for Chennai.

Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir, a duo that was highly doubted by most of the cricketing world, considering that they were a little old for the fast-paced and instantly changing T20 format of cricket.

Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir went on to prove to the cricketing world that “age is just a number” as the duo took on Kolkata Knight Riders, Where CSK won by seven wickets as Harbhajan (2/15) and Tahir (2/21) bowled magnificently to derail the KKR batting line-up.

During the initial league matches last year, CSK was highly doubted to perform as they were a veteran squad, but CSK would go on to shock winning four of their five matches, where Harbhajan Singh picked up 5 wickets in 3 matches so far, Tahir has 7 wickets to his name from 5 matches. The spin duo was extremely efficient and successful in bowling match-winning overs as they dismissed batsmen like Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal with very little scoring.

Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir’s spin duo has given Chennai Super Kings some memorable innings, one of which was against Royal Challengers Bengaluru where Tahir and Bhajji went for a wicket spree competition, where Tahir took 3 wickets for 9 runs and Bhajji took 3 wickets for 20 runs, the spin impact on this match was so high that Chennai spinner hauled a total of 8 wickets in a single match.

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni talked about the duo in a post-match interview last year and said “The age is on their side (Bhajji and Tahir). They are like wine and they are maturing. Bhajji has done well in whatever games he has played. I have fallen back on Imran whenever needed and he has come up with very good performances.

Although playing against each other today, the maturity these men showed off the field with their gestures shows the other side of the cricketers.
