On Thursday’s doubleheader evening match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Capitals here at Narendra Modi stadium. The Delhi Capitals led by Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Both teams desperately need a win as the season advances with CSK and RCB constantly fighting at the top of the points table.

Delhi Capitals bowlers made some serious damage to the Kolkata Knight Riders batting order as they managed to destroy their opening order but Shubham Gill came in as the savior for the team today as he played an amazing innings scoring 43 runs to get the team to a stable score which was then followed by Andre Russell who scored 45 runs in the climax quickly and destructively taking the team’s total to 154 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing a score of 155, the Delhi Capitals openers have gotten off with what has been the season’s strongest start for the team with Pruthvi Shaw smashing 6 boundaries for Shivam Mavi to start the innings, Pruthvi Shaw’s first over was so tremendous that the CRR went up to 25 runs. On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan is perfectly playing the anchor role letting youngster Prithvi Shaw play his way into the innings.

Pruthvi Shaw has been punishing Kolkata bowlers continuously while they struggle to make it count for the team by taking wickets, the partnership is going so well that they currently have 64 runs in 6 overs as they still have so much more to play in the match. Pruthvi Shaw’s incredible batting performance has given Delhi Capitals one of the best opening order batting of the season.

Shaw’s batting performance bought Delhi to an easy and laid-back comfort in the match as they now look to be on an easy way to win the match.

Prithvi Shaw also smashed IPL 2021’s fastest half-century just off of 18 balls with a strike rate of 250.00, an amazing innings for the youngster as he continues to torture Kolkata bowlers early in the match. Prithvi Shaw’s batting performance is by far one of the best in the season and the best for the team as their opening order wasn’t loud till today, but with Shaw’s innings today, bowlers will have to be aware of this team for sure.

Prithvi Shaw’s fastest fifty came off of just 18 balls here in Ahmedabad, while Rishabh Pant from the same squad also scored 50 races in 18 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium in 2019, the fastest fifty was scored by Chris Morris against Delhi in 2016 which was just off of 17 balls.

The Delhi Capitals are currently batting at 101 in 10 overs for no loss of wickets with Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw looking strong and steady at the crease.
