On Friday’s match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings, on one side RCB look to win the match and regain the top spot on the points table on the other hand Punjab look forward to advancing higher in the points table with a win.

RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first here at Narendra Modi stadium to restrict Punjab Kings from scoring big.

But K L Rahul and Chris Gayle shined for Punjab today as they pushed the team score to a steady total, K L Rahul’s 91 runs off of 57 balls and Chris Gayle’s explosive 46 runs combined to post a total score of 179 for Punjab in 20 overs.

Chasing a score of 180 runs, RCB had a sloppy start in the powerplay with Devdutt Padikkal getting dismissed early in the match for just 7 runs by Riley Meredith, Virat Kohli along with Rajat Patidar had more on their shoulder as their opening in the powerplay was shunted with Punjab’s coordinated bowling attack, even then Virat Kohli failed to deliver as he was dismissed by Harpreet Brar in the first ball of his over, it was then followed by Glenn Maxwell and AB De Villiers who all fell down like skittles for Bear’s magical bowling spell.

Rajat Patidar fought like the lone wolf for the team realizing his responsibility of having to take the team out of a poor batting performance, Patidar kept himself on the crease for a long time but couldn’t handle the pressure as RCB’s batsmen kept going back to the stands as fast as they came to the crease, Chris Jordan’s fuller delivery on the middle forced Patidar to go for a swing where his hands slipped forcing the bat to fly off of his hands sending the ball high up in the air where Nicholas Pooran ran the length of the ground and secured the catch to dismiss him for 31 runs resulting in 91 runs for the loss of 5 wickets for RCB.
