Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore to recover from a shaky start and score 2014/4 against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 18 at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Varun Chakravarthy and Prasidh Krishna took two wickets in the first two overs to reduce RCB to just 9 runs. Glenn Maxwell then scored an impressive 78 off 49 balls, putting up with a partnership of 86 runs with Devdutt Padikkal. After Padikkal’s dismissal, Maxwell was joined in by AB de Villiers and they both gave an impressive show.

Maxwell eventually fell off to Pt Cummins at the seventeenth over but Villiers then made the most of the remaining innings. During the last over bowled by Andre Russel, the Kohli-led RCB score 56 runs all thanks to De Villiers. He ended the innings unbeaten on 76 off 34 deliveries hitting nine fours and three sixes.
