BCCI president Sourav Ganguli has recently said “the BCCI will look at creating a window for the remainder of IPL 2021 ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for October-November” to The Telegraph. This makes the speculations strong that the remaining season of IPL may be completed from September to Mid October.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, an Indian Newspaper asked him about the breach of the IPL bio bubble in an interview. For which he stated that
- ” I really don’t know what led to this situation inside the biosecurity bubble. We will have to do a post-mortem and look into the reasons behind this”.
- He further stated that “Travelling could have been an issue. I really don’t know what led to this situation inside the biosecurity bubble. We will have to do a post-mortem and look into the reasons behind this”.

All this came a day after the suspension of IPL due to breach in IPL’s bio bubble that lead to some players testing positive. He also added
- “There has got to be a lot of shuffling. Only a day has passed since we suspended the IPL. We have to speak to other boards and see if a window can be made available before the T20 World Cup. Lot of things are involved and we will slowly start working on them.
- “If we fail to complete the IPL, the loss will be close to INR 2500 crore (USD 340 million approx). That is going by early estimates.”
It is to be noted that BCCI is trying it’s best to explore new windows so that the remaining matches of IPL can be completed. Amid all the speculations, sources indicate that BCCI may plan to complete the remaining season of IPL in UAE or UK. Even though there are no official statements by BCCI on this aspect.
