In the face-off against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the defending champions won the toss and chose to bat, as they had a big-hitting desire in the powerplay against Hyderabad.
Right off the beginning, everything seemed perfect for Mumbai Indians as openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma found solid ground early in the match and started hitting seriously against Hyderabad’s bowling attack.
No matter what the Sunrisers tried at the bowling end, Mumbai seemed to have an answer for everything with their bat, Rohit Sharma, and de Kock’s partnership cost too much for Hyderabad as they quickly got into their 50 partnership well before powerplay. After reaching 50, Rohit Sharma started going big against Hyderbad, he smashed two massive sixers to get everyone up from their seats at the Pavillion. But the celebration didn’t last for long as Shankar dismissed Rohit in his third ball with a scrambled seamer as Rohit tried to hit it off deep mid-wicket giving an easy catch to Virat Singh.
Mumbai was in for another shock in their hard-hitting innings as Shankar dismissed Surya Kumar Yadav in his next over, yet again with a slower delivery around off and middle, Yadav tried to push it on the left side but the ball went straight for the stumps so he ended up sending the ball back into Vijay Shankar’s hands as he takes the catch without any mistake.
Surya Kumar Yadav’s inability to judge the ball and prevent himself from giving his wicket to Shankar might be a big problem for Mumbai as their hard-hitting momentum might come to an end resulting in a slower inning from what we’ve seen before in this match.
