Right-handed batsman KL Rahul had scored 670 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2020 and he was the top run-scorer in the tournament, but the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) captain had a strike rate of 129.35. Despite being an agressive opener, the team did not get a good start. In such a situation, the team did not take advantage of the powerplay and lost many close matches. However, now KL Rahul will be seen in an aggressive style. This fact has been claimed by the team’s batting coach Wasim Jaffer.

Punjab Kings batting coach Wasim Jaffer said in an interview to TOI, ‘KL Rahul batted a little timidly last season. He probably batted deep, as there was not much batting after No. 5 and Glenn Maxwell firing. Unable to do that. He took the responsibility of keeping himself at the crease and batting till the end. This time, everyone will definitely see the aggressive KL Rahul.’

KL Rahul is truly a three-pronged player for his franchise. He is the captain, an opener and apart from that he is also a wicketkeeper. Returning to ODI cricket after a few ups and downs in the T20 International series, he must have gained confidence by scoring a half-century and a century. Jaffer said, ‘It can happen to any player. The more matches he played, the better he became. Yes, he had a bad T20 series, but that did not make him a bad batsman. He has scored centuries in all three formats and knows his game better than anyone else. In ODIs he showed why he is such a special player.’

Here’s how Punjab Kings official tweeter handle responded to the interview-
