Glenn Maxwell’s journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a case study of its own. Despite being one of the most feared batsmen in the world, the Australian maverick has never really been able to crack the code in the toughest T20 league.
Yet, very interestingly, teams have never really given up on Maxwell. It could be because,
at his best, Maxwell is an absolute destroyer of bowling attacks, field placements, and their plans. He can make a telling impact in T20 cricket with his explosive avatar, whether it is in the powerplay, in the middle-overs or at the death. Let’s explore how exactly the franchise can get the best out of their latest Australian recruit.

Talking with ESPNcricinfo former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir and former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori predicted the best spot for the latest Australian recruit of RCB.
“Best position for Maxwell is number 4 or 5 can’t go below that. But all depends on the kind of start RCB would get because I always said that AB de Villiers should be batted at no.3 and that Virat and Padikkal should open the batting. Then you got AB de Villiers at 3 and Washington Sundar at 4 and Maxwell at 5 depending on the start they get. If they got a decent start then Maxwell should play at 4 and Sundar at 5. So the most preferable position for Maxwell is no.4” said Gambhir.
“And to reduce the struggle of RCB in middle overs the best position for Maxwell is no.4” added Vettori.
Meanwhile RCB is set to play their first game against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on 9th of April.
