Arjun Tendulkar made his debut for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders owned by Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan. On social media, cricket enthusiasts, experts, and previous players of the game shared their wishes and advice for the young, uncapped Indian all-rounder. Even Shah Rukh Khan, the king of Bollywood, expressed his opinions about Arjun’s debut on Twitter. Even though KKR lost the game, it’s fair to say that SRK only had positive things to say about the development.

“As competitive as this IPL may be… but when u see a friend’s son #ArjunTendulkar take the field it is a matter of such happiness and joy. Wish Arjun all the best and @sachin_rt what a proud moment!! Wow!,” Shah Rukh tweeted.
The 23-year-old all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians opened the bowling attack and delivered two brilliant overs in which he successfully moved the ball into the early-inning right-handed batters.
He failed to take a wicket while giving up 17 runs. Venkatesh Iyer the KKR batter who subsequently went on to record his first IPL century blasted him for a six and a four. Iyer’s century went in vain as the MI batters put on a great performance and won the game easily. Even though Venkatesh Iyer was on the losing side his efforts did not go unnoticed as he bagged the Player of the Match award.
Following his debut, Arjun and his famous father Sachin—who was observed in the team’s dugout on Sunday as well as during the team’s practice on Saturday before the game—became the first father-son pair to play for the same side in the IPL’s 15-year history.

The five-time IPL champions selected Arjun for the first time at his base price of Rs 20 lakh at the 2021 auction. While Arjun and the Mumbai Indians play their home games at the Wankhede Stadium, the young cricketer is no longer affiliated with the local Mumbai team because he relocated to Goa in the second half of 2022 in search of consistent playing time in the domestic circuit.
Arjun could play a significant role going forward for Mumbai Indians this season and in seasons to follow.
