The Indian Premier League has completed 35 games and now every team has played 7 games. Mathematically every team can still qualify for the playoffs. With all combinations remaining bottom-placed, Delhi Capitals can still make it into the playoffs, while Chennai Super Kings can still be removed from the top-4 spots. Here is a look at how the teams are positioned at the points table after 35 games.
Race for Top-2 spots
Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans currently hold the top-2 spots with 10 points each. CSK have won their previous three games and have a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.66. GT on the other hand defeated Mumbai Indians last night to register back-to-back wins. The defending champions have an NRR of +0.58. Four teams are tied with 8 points each. 3rd placed, Rajasthan Royals have lost their grip over the top-2 spots after they lost their previous 2 games against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants.
Playoffs spot
At this point, CSK and GT look to be the safest in the race for playoffs. 4 teams are tied with 8 points each. Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings all have 8 points and are placed 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. Mumbai Indians are placed 7th with 6 points having 3 wins and 4 defeats. Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals are at the bottom of the table with 4 points each.
With DC having won their last two games they will be making it difficult for other teams and perhaps could make it into the playoffs themselves. Both SRH and KKR have lost the plot as they have failed to register a win in their last three games.
