Nicholas Pooran, the batsman of Lucknow Super Giants, turned the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their favor by playing a remarkable innings. He scored a half-century in just 15 balls, which is the fastest fifty of the IPL 2023.
LSG was chasing a target of 213 runs and was struggling at 105/5 in 11.1 overs when Pooran started hitting the RCB bowlers aggressively. He hit six sixes and three fours during his innings and is now joint second on the list of fastest fifty scorers in the Indian Premier League. However, Pooran’s innings ended at 62 when he was caught by Shahbaz Ahmed off Mohammed Siraj’s delivery.
Yusuf Pathan and Sunil Narine had also scored fifties off 15 balls in 2014 and 2017 respectively. KL Rahul and Pat Cummins hold the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history, which they achieved in just 14 deliveries. A
Ajinkya Rahane had previously held the record for scoring the fastest fifty of the season, which he did in just 19 balls against Mumbai Indians. Jos Buttler of Rajasthan Royals and Shardul Thakur of KKR occupy the third spot, having scored half-centuries off 20 balls.
