IPL 2025: SunRisers Hyderabad’s opener Abhishek Sharma scored his first-ever century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with an amazing display of power hitting against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. The left-handed batter reached his hundred in just 40 balls during the 13th over as SunRisers chased a target of 246.
Blazing Century, Unmissable Celebration – Abhishek Sharma Was On Fire
Abhishek Sharma reached his century by hitting a ball from Yuzvendra Chahal. As soon as he got to the milestone, the crowd at Uppal went wild, cheering and giving him a standing ovation. His hundred was the sixth-fastest in IPL history.
After scoring his century, Abhishek Sharma held up a white piece of paper and showed it to the crowd. When the cameras zoomed in, it said, “This one is for the Orange Army.”

For those who don’t know, the Orange Army is the name of SunRisers Hyderabad’s fans. Seeing Abhishek hold up the paper, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer walked over to check what was written on it.

Abhishek Sharma finally got out after scoring 141 runs from just 55 balls, hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes. His amazing knock helped SunRisers Hyderabad chase down a big target of 246 runs, winning the match with eight wickets left and nine balls to spare. This was the second-highest run chase in IPL history.
During his innings, Abhishek also set a new record for the highest score by a SunRisers Hyderabad player, beating David Warner’s previous best of 126. He also made the highest score by an Indian batter in IPL history, going past KL Rahul’s record.
