The IPL 2025 auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This auction is highly anticipated, with 1574 players from around the world hoping to be picked by one of the 10 IPL teams. However, the final list of players will be shortened based on team suggestions since only a few players can be selected.
Many famous Indian and international players will be part of this auction. Some of the top Indian stars include Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant. Shreyas Iyer led his team to victory in IPL 2024, but Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) released him. KL Rahul was released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and Rishabh Pant was released by Delhi Capitals (DC). Due to their great performances and popularity, these players are expected to get high prices in the auction.
Auction Highlights and Player Pool
Out of the 1574 players registered for the auction, 1165 are Indian players. This shows how many Indian cricketers want to be part of this important tournament. Besides Indian players, South Africa has the second-highest number of players, with 91 registering for the auction, followed by 76 from Australia and 52 from England.
Among the registered players, 320 have already played for their national teams (called ‘capped’ players), while 1124 players have not yet played at the international level (called ‘uncapped’ players). This gives teams the choice to pick either experienced players or new talents.
Each IPL team can have up to 25 players. Since there are 10 teams, a total of 204 spots are available for players to be selected in the auction.
Base Price Bracket and Star Players
The highest starting price for bidding in the auction is INR 2 crore. Several Indian players have set their base price at this top level, and they are expected to attract a lot of attention from the teams due to their skills and star power.
