Who Will CSK Retain Ahead Of The IPL 2025 Mega-Auction?
MS Dhoni:
‘Will MS Dhoni play in IPL 2025?’ this has become one of the most talked about questions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Well, the answer is Yes. The five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings are likely to retain MS Dhoni, as an uncapped player.
With the announcement of the retention rules, the uncapped players’ provision has made it possible for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to retain their most beloved cricketer, MS Dhoni. Apart from Thala, let’s discuss who the CSK will retain ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. However, going by this rule, MS Dhoni will be paid 4 crores instead of the 12 crores he received during the IPL 2024.
Ruturaj Gaikwad:
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the young and gifted captain of CSK, is anticipated to be the first player the team keeps. Just before the 2024 Indian Premier League season, he was named captain, succeeding MS Dhoni. Ruturaj is still an important component of CSK’s goals, even though they missed the playoffs the previous season.
Ravindra Jadeja:
Ravindra Jadeja, a veteran player for CSK, is likely to be their second choice for retention. The minimum amount for this is 14 crore, but Jadeja currently makes 16 crore. It will be interesting to see if CSK keeps him for 14 crore or offers him more money.
Matheesha Pathirana:
Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana is expected to be CSK’s third retention for 11 crore. This is a big pay raise for him, as he was previously signed for just 20 lakhs. In IPL 2024, he played six matches and took 12 wickets before getting injured and having to leave the tournament.
CSK’s Possible Retentions Ahead Of IPL 2025 Auction:
- 1st Retention: ₹18 crore – Ruturaj Gaikwad
- 2nd Retention: ₹14 crore – Ravindra Jadeja
- 3rd Retention: ₹11 crore – Shivam Dube
- 4th Retention: ₹14 crore – Matheesha Pathirana
- 5th Retention: ₹4 crore – MS Dhoni (Uncapped)
