Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Dewald Brevis made a stunning play on the field during the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025. The game was held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Brevis added great energy to the CSK team. After playing a fantastic innings with the bat, he took an excellent catch to dismiss Shashank Singh, showing his all-round skills in the match.
On the 3rd ball of the 18th over, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a length delivery, and Shashank Singh pulled the ball while going on the back foot. The ball looked like it might go over Dewald Brevis, who was stationed at deep mid-wicket, but Brevis made a brilliant effort.
He was fully aware of his position and made a fantastic catch. First, he caught the ball inside the field, then tossed it up in the air. While still in the air, he flicked the ball back inside the boundary, stepped back in, and completed the catch.

Dewald Brevis had a solid performance in the game, scoring 32 runs off 26 balls. The right-hander batted with a strike rate of over 123, hitting two fours and one six during his innings.
However, his effort wasn’t enough as Punjab Kings won the match by 4 wickets. With this loss, Chennai Super Kings became the first team to be officially eliminated from the IPL 2025.

Punjab Kings batter Prabhsimran Singh, who scored a fifty, spoke about his partnership and said he wanted to take his time, while his partner did the same. He also praised the environment created by the coach and captain. He said:
“Both of us (himself and Priyansh Arya) have been batting well. The wicket was a bit slow today so I decided to take my time while he took his chances. Today I took the responsibility after he got out early. We were told before the season that we would be opening the batting together.”
“Wasn’t too concerned about the asking rate, Shreyas (Iyer) was also at the crease and batting well. I know that even if I hit 35-40 runs it is good for the team if it is in a winning cause. I want to keep going when I get starts. The credit goes to the coach and captain for creating a great environment.”
