IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are eagerly anticipating one of the most highly awaited matches of IPL 2025 against their arch-rivals, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on March 28 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The RCB vs CSK clash is always filled with intense rivalry, and this time, Bengaluru’s newly appointed batting coach and mentor, Dinesh Karthik, has promised careful planning and strategy to defeat the Men in Yellow on their home ground at Chepauk.
In their last match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a thrilling victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), knocking CSK out of the playoff race in IPL 2024. After the match, some heated moments only added to the rivalry between the two teams.
With a new-look squad, RCB is aiming to turn the tables against their southern rivals, CSK, in the upcoming season. RCB has historically struggled against CSK, winning only 11 out of 33 matches in the IPL.
RCB’s last win in Chennai was back in 2008, and now they are determined to change the story this season. Dinesh Karthik has promised the fans that RCB will have a strong strategy to take on CSK, as he shared in a recent episode of HeyCB with DK.
Dinesh Karthik said: “We will definitely plan for the CSK match, our second match. We will plan very well, don’t take any tension.”
Meanwhile, the newly appointed captain, Rajat Patidar, will lead a completely revamped Bengaluru team in the upcoming season. The franchise made bold moves in the IPL 2025 mega auction, retaining only Virat Kohli, Yash Dayal, and Patidar, while bringing in fresh faces to rebuild the squad with the aim of achieving success this year.
Speaking on Patidar’s appointment, Karthik said: “The way he led Madhya Pradesh during the domestic season was fantastic. A lot of good things players had to say about the way he led the team. So that really encouraged us, and we wanted a new leader considering it’s a fresh group of players and it’s going to be a fresh cycle as well. These two things prompted us to make Rajat our captain.”
On the other hand, there are fitness concerns in the RCB camp, with key players Josh Hazlewood and Jacob Bethell trying to recover from injuries in time for the upcoming IPL 2025.
However, Karthik reassured fans, saying there’s no need to worry about the team’s pace attack. He added, “No need to worry about RCB pacers, they are all okay at the moment, so don’t worry.”
With IPL 2025 starting on March 22, Royal Challengers Bangalore will first face the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match at Eden Gardens, before taking on Chennai Super Kings on March 28 at the Chepauk Stadium.
