On Tuesday, June 3, Virat Kohli couldn’t turn his good start into a big score during the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli Starts Strong But Falls Short in IPL Final

Kohli and Phil Salt opened the batting for RCB after PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Salt gave RCB a strong start by hitting a four and a six off Arshdeep Singh in the first over, but he got out in the second over, taken by Kyle Jamieson.

Virat Kohli and Mayank Agarwal steadied the innings, taking the score past 50. Mayank was then dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal for 24.

Next, Kohli and Rajat Patidar added 40 runs together before Patidar got out to Kyle Jamieson for 26.

With Mayank and Patidar getting out early, the pressure was on Virat Kohli to play a big innings. But he couldn’t, as he was dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai in the 15th over.

On the fifth ball, Omarzai bowled a short delivery. Kohli went for a pull shot but mistimed it, and the ball went high off the top edge toward the onside. At first, it seemed the ball would fall safely, but Omarzai sprinted in and took a brilliant diving catch.

Anushka Sharma Left Stunned by Kohli’s Dismissal

Meanwhile, as soon as Virat Kohli was dismissed, the cameraman showed Anushka Sharma, who was left shocked after the dismissal. The disappointment was truly reflected on her face as Virat walked off after scoring 43 runs from 35 balls.

The video and pictures of the same have been going viral on the internet. Watch it here:

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan took to his social media and slammed Virat Kohli for his poor strike rate. He wrote:

They kept bowling short and slow balls to Virat Kohli. Strike rate of 123 after 35 balls on this pitch is disappointing.”
