Glenn Maxwell, who was making his debut for the third time for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025, had a forgettable start as he was dismissed for a golden duck in the match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, March 25, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Glenn Maxwell’s Forgettable Start on His Third IPL Debut for PBKS

Maxwell came in to bat in the 11th over, with PBKS in a strong position, but was dismissed on the first ball by Sai Kishore. He was given out LBW while attempting a reverse sweep. After the umpire’s decision, Maxwell spoke with Shreyas Iyer but chose not to review the call.

The TV replays shocked PBKS and Maxwell as they revealed the ball was missing the stumps. If Maxwell had opted for the review, he could have stayed at the crease and continued his innings.

Maxwell’s dismissal marked his 19th duck in the IPL, making him the first player to achieve this unwanted record. Before this, the Australian star shared the record for the most ducks in IPL history with Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma.

Most Ducks in IPL History:

  1. Glenn Maxwell – 19 ducks in 130 innings
  2. Rohit Sharma – 18 ducks in 253 innings
  3. Dinesh Karthik – 18 ducks in 234 innings
  4. Piyush Chawla – 16 ducks in 92 innings
  5. Sunil Narine – 16 ducks in 278 innings

Maxwell has 35 ducks in T20 cricket, ranking fourth behind Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan, and Alex Hales.

Glenn Maxwell Is Getting Trolled

This is his third stint with Punjab Kings (PBKS), having previously played with them from 2014 to 2017 and in 2020. He captained PBKS in 2017, leading them to 5th place.

Maxwell won the MVP award in 2014 when PBKS reached their only IPL final, and he also won the IPL with Mumbai Indians in 2013. After leaving PBKS in 2020, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) until 2024. PBKS signed him for Rs. 4.2 crore in the 2025 IPL Mega Auction.

Meanwhile, Maxwell is getting brutally trolled on social media for his failed performance, check out some of the reactions:
