On Monday, May 5, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan took a stunning catch to get rid of Delhi Capitals (DC) star KL Rahul.
After Rahul’s dismissal, Delhi Capitals were struggling at 29/5 in the 55th match of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Ishan Kishan’s Stunning Catch Sends KL Rahul Packing
KL Rahul walked in to bat in the 3rd over after Delhi Capitals’ opening pair, Karun Nair and Faf du Plessis, struggled and were dismissed early by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain, Pat Cummins.
Rahul, who had been in solid form in IPL 2025, was expected to lead the recovery. However, his innings came to a quick end in the 8th over, leaving Delhi Capitals in deep trouble at 29/5.
On the first ball of the 8th over, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat bowled a full delivery that moved away slightly after pitching. Rahul, attempting to drive, was caught off guard as the ball took the outside edge and flew low to Ishan Kishan behind the stumps. Kishan dived to take a brilliant catch, dismissing Rahul for just 10 runs off 14 balls, with a single boundary.
Rahul walked off the field, shaking his head in frustration.

Ishan Kishan Makes IPL History with Four Catches in One Innings
As a result of his excellent performance, Ishan Kishan became just the 27th player in IPL history to take four or more catches in a single innings. He is also only the 13th player to do so as the team’s designated wicketkeeper.
However, Kishan made history by becoming the first player in IPL’s 17-year history to take catches of each of the top four batters from the same team in a match.
Notably, players like Morne van Wyk (for KKR against RCB in 2009) and Adam Gilchrist (for KXIP against CSK in 2011) had taken catches of three out of the four top-order batters. Faf du Plessis (for CSK against RCB in 2019) came closest, having taken catches of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th batters, but Kishan’s feat remains unique.
